The Spirit of Truth It’s easy to follow Jesus, Fr. Bob explained to us this week. Jesus’ way is the way of light and joy, peace and true happiness. However, the world is good at making it difficult for us to follow Him. As this week’s Gospel pointed out, the world hates us, Jesus’ disciples, because we do not belong to the world, but to God.
God’s word is truth. In fact, in the beginning of St. John’s Gospel, Jesus is identified as God’s truth, made flesh. So, to be of God, rather than of the world, we need to live in the truth.
That doesn’t just mean knowing the “right answers.” It also means something as simple and straightforward as telling the truth. Being truthful is simple to understand, but very difficult to do. The world makes it very easy for us to lie, even coming up with comforting phrases such as “white lies.” But a lie is a lie, no matter what it’s about or how “big” it is. We also are tempted to lie when we’re faced with a situation where we might get in trouble, if people knew the truth.
But, to be true to our identity as Christians, as followers of the Risen Lord, we must strive to be truthful in all that we do, no matter how difficult. Because with Christ’s help, even the most difficult things are possible! Thanks be to God!

Fundraising Opportunities
Each week, we will highlight a different on-going fundraiser. This week, we will take a closer look at the Target Card.
If you have a Target Card or Target Visa, every time you shop at that store and use that card, a percentage of what you spend can go to the Cathedral School—at no extra charge to you!
Here’s how it works. You can go online to www.target.com/tcoe. Or, you can stop by a store and go to the Customer Service counter. In either case, you can request, through the Take Charge of Education program, that 1% of every purchase you make with your Target Card or Target Visa goes to Cathedral School. Our school ID number is 9191. Every year, we receive several hundred dollars. So, if you already have a Target card, this is an easy way for you to help the school, at no additional cost to you! Again, we thank you for your continued support. God bless!
Here are some other fundraisers that help Cathedral School:
- Campbell’s Soup Labels
- Box Tops for Education
- Ink Doctor
- Our Family Labels
- Tyson Project A+
- Target Card
- Happy Joe’s
- Giving Tree
- Pop Tops
