Mass Schedule May 30 - planned by 5th Grade
We would like to invite you to celebrate the Mass with your child and his or her class at 8:45 a.m. Grandparents, other relatives, and friends are also welcome.
We have an important change to note in the last week of the school year. Rather than having Mass on Wednesday, like we normally do, we will have our school Mass on Friday, May 30. This Mass will also include our 6th Grade Graduation. The Mass time, however, will remain the same at 8:45 a.m. Hope to see you there!
Lunch Money Please be sure to settle up your child’s lunch account before the end of the year. If your child has extra money left over in his or her lunch account, it will still be there in the fall - you don’t have to do anything! However, if your child’s lunch account shows a negative balance, please make sure that you add enough money to at least “zero it out” before the end of the school year. If you have any questions, please talk to Sharon Dufault in the school office. Thank you for your help!
Calendar Fundraiser Many families picked up their fundraising calendars for the 2008-2009 school year at the Spring Program. If you were not able to do so, please pick them up sometime before the end of the school year. That way, we can save a lot of money on postage! If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
Cookbook Fundraiser Thank you again to all who have purchased and helped with the cookbook sales. So far, we have sold 711 of our 792 books! All cookbooks that have been checked out of the office and have not been sold should be turned in as soon as possible. Please make arrangements with the school office if you are a business that would like to keep a supply on hand to sell during the summer months. The remainder of unsold cookbooks will be available to purchase at the Crookston Oxcart Days. Thank you again for all of your help and support!
MAP Testing Successes We have completed our first-ever MAP testing season! Our students have done well, and we will be mailing your child’s results home to you, along with their report card, next week. If you had any additional questions after receiving your child’s information, please contact the school office.
New Math Books We are excited to announce that we have completed a very thorough review and update of our mathematics curriculum. The curriculum serves as a plan, explaining what our students should know and be able to do, as they complete each grade. Our new math curriculum incorporates all of the new Minnesota Academic Standards for mathematics.
In addition to the new curriculum, we are excited to announce the debut of our new math textbooks this fall. We will be using the enVision mathematics program, which is a new textbook series. It has many features and advantages that will help all of our students reach their fullest potential in mathematics! Watch for more information about our new math textbooks this fall. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
School Expansion The response to our recent survey regarding a possible expansion of our school to include grades 7-12 has been very positive! Therefore, the school board and pastor have recommended that we begin more detailed planning, including feasibility studies. We will, of course, keep you posted on any new developments. Watch for a new survey in the upcoming school year! As always, if you have any additional questions or comments about this expansion idea, please contact the school office.
Pictures Needed We are beginning to create our new yearbook for the 2007-2008 school year. Many thanks to Sandy Lindtwed, Kay Oien, and Becky Roesch for all your help to make this possible!
If you have any pictures that you’d like to share for the yearbook, please email them to sdufault.cathedral @midconetwork.com. Or, you could bring them in to the school office. Please include your name on the back, so that we can return the photo to you. Thanks for your help!
Lost and Found Please make sure to check our Lost and Found table in the next few days. At the end of the school year, we will be cleaning it off and donating the items to charity. Thank you for your help!
New Start Time Beginning in the 2008-2009 school year, the Cathedral School will be starting school 10 minutes earlier! So, next year, the school day will officially begin at 8:20 a.m. and will still run until 2:50 p.m. If you have any questions, please contact the school office. Thank you!
Keep It! Because this is the last Thursday envelope of the school year, you can go ahead and keep it! We will be breaking out new ones for you, in the fall. Thanks for your help in keeping the lines of communication open between your home and our school!
School Board Corner The Cathedral School Board’s next meeting will be on Wednesday, June 11th at 6:00 p.m., at the Irishman’s Shanty. We will be wrapping up the school year, and looking ahead to next year. Everyone is welcome to attend!
Have a Great Summer! This will be the last newsletter for the 2007-2008 school year. We will begin publishing again in the first week of the new school year, this September.
May God bless you and your family this summer, giving you many opportunities to spend time together. We all look forward to seeing you back here this fall!
